 IN THE NEWS

Health: Rise and Shine: More Sunlight is Good for Your Health
A study by researchers at the Institute for Cancer Research in Oslo, Norway has given further credence to the claim that the benefits of modest sun exposure outweigh the risk of skin cancer for most people. Johan Moan, the researcher who...  http://www.naturalnews.com:80/022841.html

Health: The Secret to Healing Miracles: How to Make Herbs Work Every Time
It is certainly no secret that herbs get a bad rap sometimes because someone reports that they "don't seem to work." Just the other day I was speaking to a chiropractic friend of mine and he was discussing the way Echinacea was used in a... http://www.naturalnews.com:80/022839.html

 IN THE GARDEN

 **Plant an herb garden.

Both the culinary and medicinal properties of herbs have been known for years. Herbs are also planted for ornamental beauty. Consider planting an herb garden in your yard, containers on your deck or patio, in a garden with other plants, or inside in a sunny window.

*Coriander: one of the most ancient herbs, used for medicinal and seasoning purposes.

*Cumin: has been used since the days of the prophet Isaiah. It is used for digestive disorders.

*Dill: has been used for flavoring and for medicinal purposes for centuries.

*Fennel: the aromatic hot-tasting seeds of this herb were an Eastern substitution for black pepper. The oil from the seeds can increase appetite and saliva flow.

*Marjoram: Syrian marjoram was widely used by ancient peoples to cleanse and purify.

*Mint: is used for cooking and medicinal purposes.

*Sage: was used in Bible times as a cure for many ailments and was cultivated for its fragrant oil.

WISE CHOICES

Stress Busters

A person tends to feel stress if he does not truly enjoy his life. Choose to embrace each new season of your life with enthusiasm, faith and grace. Dwelling on problems only tends to enlarge those problems in your mind, and to sour your attitude toward anyone or anything associated with the problem. Stay focused on uplifting thoughts. Avoid people who whine or are critical all the time, or have negative words and images. Choose to associate with people who are positive and see things that are informational and inspirational. See your life as a celebration, not a struggle. A merry heart is much better than any antidepressant. Seek things that bring a joyful attitude, a smile to your face or a belly laugh. Recognize no season of life lasts forever. The sun will come up tomorrow and circumstances will change.

The Dangers of Excess

Excess comes in many forms.

* Excess in eating produces the storage of nutrients in the form of fat, which can create weight problems. * Excess in spending produces debt; excess in hoarding produces a greedy spirit. * Excess in emotions (negative or positive) can be harmful. Even highly positive emotions such as joy and love can produce an endorphin high that people try to artificially keep going by the consuming of substance, continual spending, overworking, or too much stimulation of the senses. *Excessive negative emotions can drive people to depression, despair and even suicide.

Moderation is the key. Never lose sight of the eternal consequences of our consumption. Excesses of this earthly life do not produce eternal rewards.

 FOOD FOR THOUGHT

**Want a healthy alternative to popsicles for your kids? Try frozen grapes. The grapes will be as satisfying in their sweetness and they have a lot less calories. (Remember to remove stems before freezing.)

**Kelp can help speed up a person’s metabolism. Kelp along with algae is also a detoxifier. It helps “sponge up” and carry heavy metals out of the body. It is also used for skin care.

**Nuts are commonly used as a dessert in the Middle East. They are often served with honey, yogurt and tea. Nuts are associated with cancer prevention, lowering heart disease, and help for diabetes. They are rich in calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc.

INTERESTING FACTS TO KNOW

**Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is a great blood purifier. Add a tablespoon to a cup of hot water as a “tonic” drink”. Apple cider vinegar can also be used as an astringent/toner for the face and to remove residue from hair.

**Spring Cleaning is not only therapeutic for the soul, but can be healthful for the body. Spring cleaning can clear away allergens from your home. Consider purchasing an air purifier or water-purifier if you don’t already have one. Sort closets and give away unused items.

FEATURED NETWORK MEMBER

Rose Andras

Beverly Hills, FL

Justgoraw@yahoo.com

Hello everyone, my name is Rose Andras. I have 15 years experience being a Vegetarian/Vegan and I’ve been 100% raw since May of 2007. I’m passionate about helping others transition to a Raw-Vegan Lifestyle. I can help you achieve the benefits of Optimum Health through exercise and raw living foods. The diet that takes your body from acid to alkaline. Reverse the symptoms of dis-ease by becoming healthy -mind, body ,soul & spirit.

I’m very enthusiastic about the raw food lifestyle & The changes that I have personally experienced. Since going raw, I have overcome high blood pressure, pain from arthritis & all the symptoms of menopause. My hair color has changed from white, back to a shade darker than my normal hair color. My skin and complexion have a nice healthy glow. I don’t have to use much hot water when bathing (I know that sounds crazy but it’s true) and I’ve also maintained the same healthy weight for 1 year. ALL THIS WITHOUT THE USE OF PRESCRIPTION  DRUGS.

The raw vegan lifestyle has dramatically changed my own life & I’d give 110% to help you in your journey to “Just go Raw” because, becoming raw, is a journey. I’ll be right there to help you transition to the level of raw that is right for you and at the pace you desire. I will empower you with the tools & knowledge to help you achieve your goal whether they be 75%, 90% or 100% raw.

I know a 100 % raw diet may not be for everyone but eating a diet predominantly of raw foods (Historically the best diet for Mankind) will do wonders for your health. I truly believe God has created our bodies to be healthy, and we will be, if we eat the foods he designed for us to eat. Our bodies need to be in balance and harmony MIND, BODY, SOUL & SPIRIT. These are the truths I hold fast in my heart.

I also recommend whole body cleansing & other holistic approaches to help you detoxify

and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I have achieved certification from the Ekaya Institute of Living Foods Education

And I plan to further my education by attending the Hippocrates Institute in the fall.
